  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

            Each city, parish, or other local public school board for the high school under its jurisdiction or the principals of such high schools and the principal or headmaster of each nonpublic high school approved by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education shall, using the criteria in Subpart B of Part I of this Chapter as the minimum qualifications for selection, identify and certify to the administering agency those achieving the required academic standards to qualify for an award pursuant to this Chapter.
