Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 32:878

  • Commissioner: means the Department of Public Safety and Corrections. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 32:851
  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.

Neither the report required by La. Rev. Stat. 32:871, the action taken by the commissioner pursuant to this Part, the findings, if any, of the commissioner upon which such action is based, nor the security filed as provided in this Part shall be referred to in any way, nor be any evidence of the negligence of due care of either party, at the trial of any action at law to recover damages.
