Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:140.17

  • Clerk of court: An officer appointed by the court to work with the chief judge in overseeing the court's administration, especially to assist in managing the flow of cases through the court and to maintain court records.
  • Injunction: An order of the court prohibiting (or compelling) the performance of a specific act to prevent irreparable damage or injury.

            If the owner or the agent of the owner of any land located within the area covered by the adopted plan transfers or sells or agrees to sell or negotiates to sell such land by reference to or exhibition of or by other use of a plat of subdivision of such land before such plat has been approved by such commission and recorded in the office of the clerk of court of Caddo Parish, the owner or the agent of the owner shall be subject to a penalty of one hundred dollars for each lot so transferred or sold or agreed or negotiated to be sold; and the description by metes and bounds in the instrument of transfer or other document used in the process of selling or transferring shall not exempt the transaction from such penalties. The municipality, through its attorney or other designated official, may enjoin such transfer of sale or agreement by action for injunction or may recover the penalty by civil action.
