A.  In order to encourage historic preservation and the preservation of Louisiana’s architectural heritage, when applying the requirements of the adopted fire, life safety, or accessibility regulations and when implementing the applicable provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 40:1574, the state fire marshal shall have the authority to take into consideration the impact of these requirements on the historic integrity of existing facilities.

B.  Where it is determined by the state fire marshal that public safety is not jeopardized and a minimum acceptable level of safety is achieved, the state fire marshal shall have the authority to consider alternatives to the specific requirements of the adopted laws, codes, rules, and regulations.
