- Benefit corporation: means a corporation:
A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 13-C Sec. 1802Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
A benefit corporation must be incorporated in accordance with chapter 2, and its articles of incorporation must state that it is a benefit corporation. [PL 2019, c. 328, §1 (NEW).]
