Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 363

  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Transcript: A written, word-for-word record of what was said, either in a proceeding such as a trial or during some other conversation, as in a transcript of a hearing or oral deposition.
To entitle any copy of a law published in the Revised Statutes of 1964 to be read in evidence, there must be contained in the same book a printed certificate of the Secretary of State that the copy is a correct transcript of the text of the original laws. A facsimile of the signature of the Secretary of State imprinted by or at the Secretary of State’s direction upon the certificate has the same validity as the Secretary of State’s written signature.
