Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 478

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
During any emergency insurance period as described in sections 471 and 472, the superintendent is authorized to issue such directions, rules or orders as in the superintendent’s discretion the circumstances may warrant, and any Justice of the Supreme Judicial or Superior Courts has full jurisdiction to enforce this chapter by appropriate decrees.
