  • Bureau: means the Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Standards. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 26 Sec. 642
  • Code of Federal Regulations: means the Code of Federal Regulations as of January 1, 2008. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 26 Sec. 642
  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.

  • Farm labor contractor: means a person or entity that employs migrant and seasonal farm workers and that is required to register with the United States Department of Labor under the federal Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 26 Sec. 642
  • Forestry worker: means a person employed on a temporary or seasonal basis to perform reforestation activities, including, but not limited to, precommercial thinning, tree planting and brush clearing. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 26 Sec. 642
  • Lawsuit: A legal action started by a plaintiff against a defendant based on a complaint that the defendant failed to perform a legal duty, resulting in harm to the plaintiff.
  • Migrant and seasonal farm worker: means a person employed by a farm labor contractor on a temporary or seasonal basis to perform farm labor. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 26 Sec. 642
  • Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
  • United States: includes territories and the District of Columbia. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
