Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 872

  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
If the budget is not approved before the start of a fiscal year, until a budget is finally adopted, the county shall operate on an interim budget which may not exceed 80% of the previous year‘s budget. [PL 1991, c. 495 (NEW).]
