- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
- an event the result of which is determined by chance: includes but is not limited to a shuffle of a deck or decks of cards, a roll of a die or dice or a random drawing or generation of an object or objects that may include, but are not limited to, a card or cards, a die or dice, a number or numbers or simulations of any of these. - Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.

- Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
- Construction hoist: means a hoist that is not an integral part of a building or structure; is installed inside or outside the building or structure during the construction, alteration or demolition of the building or structure; and is used to raise and lower workers, other personnel and materials.
