Terms Used In Maryland Code, FAMILY LAW 5-1044

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
A party has the right to appeal from an order under this subtitle to the Court of Special Appeals, as provided in Title 12, Subtitle 3 of the Courts Article.
