- Commission: means the state transportation commission. See Michigan Laws 247.801
- Department: means the department of transportation. See Michigan Laws 247.801
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. The office of state highway commissioner is abolished and the powers and duties of that office are transferred to and vested in the commission. Any law referring to the state highway commissioner or office of state highway commissioner shall be considered to refer to the department.
