  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.    A nonresident of this state may become a licensee under this article by conforming with this article. A license shall not be issued to a foreign corporation unless the corporation is authorized to do business in this state by the corporation and securities commission. The nonresident shall file an irrevocable consent to service of process. The consent shall be signed by the applicant or by an authorized officer, member, or partner of the applicant and shall be notarized. If the applicant is a corporation, consent shall be accompanied by a certified copy of the resolution of the corporation authorizing the consent. A process or pleading served upon the department shall be sufficient service upon the licensee. A process or pleading served upon the department under this section shall be in duplicate. The department immediately shall forward by registered mail 1 copy of the process or pleading to the main office of the licensee served.
