  • Adjutant general: means the adjutant general of this state. See Michigan Laws 35.1022
  • Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.    The expenses of the administration of this act shall be paid from the general fund in accordance with the accounting laws of the state. For this purpose there is appropriated a sum of not more than $1,200,000.00 from the general fund which shall be released by the state administrative board on recommendation of the state budget director to the department of military affairs as required to carry out the provisions of this act. Any necessary expense incurred by the adjutant general prior to the effective date of this act in preparation for the prompt payment of veterans’ claims in administering the purposes of this act shall be refunded to the department of military affairs, out of the appropriation hereby made, after an itemized claim therefor shall have been submitted to and approved by the state administrative board.
