Terms Used In Michigan Laws 4.364

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
  • Ombudsman: means the office of legislative corrections ombudsman. See Michigan Laws 4.351
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals. See Michigan Laws 8.3l
   The authority granted the ombudsman is in addition to the authority granted under the provisions of any other act or rule under which the remedy or right of appeal or objection is provided for a person, or any procedure provided for the inquiry into or investigation of any matter. The authority granted the ombudsman shall not be construed to limit or affect the remedy or right of appeal or objection and shall not be deemed part of an exclusionary process.
