  • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • shall not apply: means that the pertinent provision is not operative as to certain persons or things or in conjunction with a particular date or dates. See Michigan Laws 8.4c
   The township board may determine that the whole or any part of an obligation of the township assessed or contracted for pursuant to Act No. 342 of the Public Acts of 1939, as amended, being section 46.171 to 46.187 of the Michigan Compiled Laws; Act No. 185 of the Public Acts of 1957, as amended, being section 123.731 to 123.786 of the Michigan Compiled Laws; Act No. 40 of the Public Acts of 1956, as amended, being section 280.1 to 280.623 of the Michigan Compiled Laws; and Act No. 233 of the Public Acts of 1955, as amended, being section 124.281 to 124.294 of the Michigan Compiled Laws, shall be defrayed by special assessments against the property specially benefited thereby and in such case, the special assessments may be levied and collected in accordance with this act except as herein provided. The requirements of section 3 with respect to requiring a petition and section 4 with respect to the hearing therein required shall not apply to any special assessments levied and collected in accordance with this section and the above described acts.
