(1) In all actions and proceedings in court arising under this act process shall be served and the practice and rules of evidence shall be the same as in civil actions, except as otherwise provided in this act. A sheriff or other officer empowered to execute civil process may execute any process issued under this act and shall receive compensation for that purpose as may be prescribed by law for similar services.
  (2) Upon application of any person the department shall furnish certified copies, signed and under seal of the department, of any order made by it, and, if otherwise admissible, may be admitted as evidence in any court or proceedings without further authentication.
