- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. Before performing the duties of office and within 30 days after receiving notice from the director of the department of state police of appointment, a railroad police officer appointed shall take and file with the director the oath prescribed by the state constitution of 1963.
