  • Insurer: means an individual, corporation, association, partnership, reciprocal exchange, inter-insurer, Lloyds organization, fraternal benefit society, or other legal entity, engaged or attempting to engage in the business of making insurance or surety contracts. See Michigan Laws 500.106
   Such provisions of this code as are applicable to domestic stock insurers transacting life, disability, or casualty insurances as are not inconsistent with, or in conflict with provisions of this chapter are hereby made applicable to the operation of any insurer organized under the provisions of this chapter.
