(1) Proceedings for the payment of fines or for suspension, revocation, or limitation of a certificate of authority shall be conducted under the administrative procedures act of 1969, Act No. 306 of the Public Acts of 1969, being section 24.201 to 24.328 of the Michigan Compiled Laws.
(2) Any employer in the MEWA or any employee covered under the MEWA may appeal a disputed claim to the commissioner. If the commissioner determines that there is a legitimate dispute, the commissioner or the commissioner’s designee shall conduct a hearing pursuant to the administrative procedures act of 1969, Act No. 306 of the Public Acts of 1969.

- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- Commissioner: means the director. See Michigan Laws 500.102
- MEWA: means that term as defined in section 3 of the employee retirement income security act of 1974, Public Law 93-406, 88 Stat. See Michigan Laws 500.7001
