- Alcoholic liquor: means any spiritous, vinous, malt, or fermented liquor, liquid, or compound whether or not medicated, containing 1/2 of 1% or more of alcohol by volume and which is or readily can be made suitable as a beverage. See Michigan Laws 801.261
- Attorney-in-fact: A person who, acting as an agent, is given written authorization by another person to transact business for him (her) out of court.
- Charity: An agency, institution, or organization in existence and operating for the benefit of an indefinite number of persons and conducted for educational, religious, scientific, medical, or other beneficent purposes.
- Controlled substance: means a drug, substance, or immediate precursor in schedules 1 to 5 of part 72 of Act No. See Michigan Laws 801.261
- Fund: means the maritime and port facility assistance fund created in section 7. See Michigan Laws 120.153
- Garnishment: Generally, garnishment is a court proceeding in which a creditor asks a court to order a third party who owes money to the debtor or otherwise holds assets belonging to the debtor to turn over to the creditor any of the debtor
- Grant program: means the maritime and port facility assistance grant program created in section 5. See Michigan Laws 120.153
- Grantor: The person who establishes a trust and places property into it.
- grantor: may be construed as including every person from or by whom any estate in lands passes in or by any deed. See Michigan Laws 8.3e
- Green marine certification: means a certification issued or awarded by a nationally recognized maritime organization identified by the office that ranks or evaluates port facilities on various criteria, including, but not limited to, any of the following:
(i) Greenhouse gas and air pollutants. See Michigan Laws 120.153jail: means a facility that is operated by a county for the detention of persons charged with, or convicted of, criminal offenses or ordinance violations, or persons found guilty of civil or criminal contempt, for not more than 1 year. See Michigan Laws 801.251 Jail: means a municipal or county jail, work-camp, lockup, holding center, half-way house, community corrections center, house of correction, or any other facility maintained by a municipality or county which houses prisoners. See Michigan Laws 801.261 Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt. month: means a calendar month; the word "year" a calendar year; and the word "year" alone shall be equivalent to the words "year of our Lord". See Michigan Laws 8.3j Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan. Office: means the maritime and port facility assistance office created in section 10s of 1951 PA 51, MCL 247. See Michigan Laws 120.153 Personal property: All property that is not real property. Port facility: means a commercial facility located alongside a navigable waterway used for commercial vessels and includes any of the following types of facilities:
(i) A seawall jetty, pier, wharf, or dock. See Michigan Laws 120.153Prisoner: means a person incarcerated in a jail or a person committed to a jail for incarceration who is a participant in a work release or vocational or educational study release program. See Michigan Laws 801.261
