Any funds in the charge and custody of the board of trustees of the retirement system under the provisions of sections 169.270 to 169.400 shall not be subject to execution, garnishment, attachment or any other process whatsoever and shall be unassignable, unless otherwise specifically provided in sections 169.270 to 169.400.
