210.070.  Prophylactic eyedrops at birth — objection to, when. — 1.  A physician, midwife, or nurse who shall be in attendance upon a newborn infant or its mother shall drop into the eyes of such infant a prophylactic medication approved by the state department of health and senior services.

  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

 2.  Administration of such eye drops shall not be required if a parent or legal guardian of such infant objects to the treatment *because it is against the religious beliefs of the parent or legal guardian*.
