Terms Used In Missouri Laws 377.190

  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, and to partnerships and other unincorporated associations. See Missouri Laws 1.020
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

Any solicitor, agent or examining physician, who shall knowingly or willfully make any false or fraudulent statement or misrepresentation in or with reference to any application for insurance, or for the purpose of obtaining any money or benefit in any corporation doing business under sections 377.010 to 377.190, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars nor more than five hundred dollars, or imprisonment in the county jail for not less than thirty days nor more than one year, or by both such fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of the court; and any person who shall willfully make a false statement of any material fact or thing in a sworn statement as to death or disability of a certificate holder in any such corporation, for the purpose of procuring payment of a benefit named in the certificate of such holder, shall be guilty of perjury, and shall be proceeded against and punished as provided by the statutes of this state in relation to the crime of perjury.
