- Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
If good cause be shown for setting aside the settlement, the commission may examine the accounts, settle and adjust the same according to law, and in their discretion remit the penalties imposed.
