  • Oath: A promise to tell the truth.

The township clerk of each township shall have the custody and care of all records, books and papers belonging to his office; and he shall file in his office all certificates, oaths or other instruments of writing required by law to be filed in his office, and he shall have power to administer the oath of office to all township officers; and it is hereby made the duty of the township clerk to administer all necessary oaths which may be required in the transaction of any township business in the township of which he is clerk; provided, that nothing herein shall be so construed as to deprive any other officer from administering any oath, as may be otherwise provided by law.
