  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.

The term “employee” shall not include any appointed or elected officers who may be prohibited from the receipt of benefits hereunder by the application of any provision of any statute or of the constitution of this state affecting the compensation of public officers, but such term shall otherwise be deemed to include public officers.
