§ 25-1-501	Notice to be given to attorney general when state department or board initiates or intervenes in an action
§ 25-1-502	Notice of appeal to be served on attorney general when state is party to judicial review

Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
Appellate: About appeals; an appellate court has the power to review the judgement of another lower court or tribunal.
Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
Counterclaim: A claim that a defendant makes against a plaintiff.
State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Montana Code 1-1-201
Writ: A formal written command, issued from the court, requiring the performance of a specific act.
Writ: means an order in writing issued in the name of the state or of a court or judicial officer. See Montana Code 1-1-202
