  • Account: means the Montana land information account created in 90-1-409. See Montana Code 90-1-403
  • Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
  • Baseline: Projection of the receipts, outlays, and other budget amounts that would ensue in the future without any change in existing policy. Baseline projections are used to gauge the extent to which proposed legislation, if enacted into law, would alter current spending and revenue levels.
  • Bequest: Property gifted by will.
  • Certified regional development corporation: has the meaning provided in 90-1-116. See Montana Code 90-1-201
  • Committee on committees: Committees formed in each party conference and responsible for nominating the party's Senators to committee membership and committee leadership positions. Nominations are subject to approval by the full party conference and to a formal vote of the Senate.
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Council: means the land information advisory council established in 90-1-405. See Montana Code 90-1-403
  • Department: means the department of commerce provided for in 2-15-1801. See Montana Code 90-1-201
  • Economic development organization: means :

    (i) (A) a private, nonprofit corporation, as provided in Title 35, chapter 2, that is exempt from taxation under section 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code, 26 U. See Montana Code 90-1-201

  • Employee benefits: means health, welfare, and pension contributions that meet the requirements of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, 29 U. See Montana Code 90-1-201
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
  • GIS: means an organized collection of computer hardware, software, land information, and other resources, including personnel, that is designed to or assists to efficiently collect, maintain, and disseminate all forms of geographically referenced information. See Montana Code 90-1-403
  • High-poverty county: means a county in this state in which 14% or more of people of all ages are in poverty as determined by the U. See Montana Code 90-1-201
  • Interest rate: The amount paid by a borrower to a lender in exchange for the use of the lender's money for a certain period of time. Interest is paid on loans or on debt instruments, such as notes or bonds, either at regular intervals or as part of a lump sum payment when the issue matures. Source: OCC
  • Land information: means data that describes the geographic location and characteristics of natural or constructed features and boundaries within or pertaining to Montana. See Montana Code 90-1-403
  • Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
  • Local government: means a county, consolidated government, city, town, or district or local public entity with the authority to spend or receive public funds. See Montana Code 90-1-201
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Person: includes a corporation or other entity as well as a natural person. See Montana Code 1-1-201
  • Presiding officer: A majority-party Senator who presides over the Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing Members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices and precedents.
  • Process: means a writ or summons issued in the course of judicial proceedings. See Montana Code 1-1-202
  • Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
  • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
  • State librarian: means the executive officer of the state library commission provided for in 22-1-102. See Montana Code 90-1-403
  • State library: means the state library provided for in 22-1-201. See Montana Code 90-1-403
  • Tribal government: means any one of the seven federally recognized tribal governments of Montana and the Little Shell band of Chippewa Indians. See Montana Code 90-1-201
