Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 100-C:17

  • Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
  • board: means the board provided for in N. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 100-C:1
  • Retirement: means withdrawal from active service with a retirement allowance granted under the provisions of this chapter. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 100-C:1
Each calendar year, the general court may approve supplemental benefits in an amount exceeding $50,000 in the aggregate upon recommendation of the board. The board shall have the authority to provide supplemental benefits annually in such percentages or amounts as the board deems advisable, including the ability to segment or tier amounts based upon years without such a benefit. Supplemental benefits shall not be permanent. The board shall provide information required by the general court, including, but not limited to, any change in the Consumer Price Index-Urban for the year prior to the year in which the nonrecurring benefit is to be granted. Supplemental benefits greater than $50,000 per year in the aggregate shall only be paid if the judicial retirement annuity accumulation fund earns at a level greater than the actuarial assumed rate of return approved by the board and the trust is at least 90 percent funded for that calendar year.
