Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 120:4

  • petition: when used in connection with the equity jurisdiction of the superior court, and referring to a document filed with the court, shall mean complaint, and "petitioner" shall mean plaintiff. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:51
  • registered mail: when used in connection with the requirement for notice by mail shall mean either registered mail or certified mail. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:32-a
  • state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4

In the taking of lands by the United States for any public purpose, by condemnation proceedings, it shall be sufficient notice to all parties interested, if an attested copy of the petition for such taking and summons or order of notice thereon, made by the court or selectmen petitioned, shall be given in hand to, or left at the last and usual place of abode of, all known interested parties residing in this state, and by a like service on all others, or by sending by registered mail a like copy to the last known post-office address of such known interested party, and by publication in such paper or papers and for such times as the court or selectmen petitioned may order.
