Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 372:10
- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- petition: when used in connection with the equity jurisdiction of the superior court, and referring to a document filed with the court, shall mean complaint, and "petitioner" shall mean plaintiff. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:51

The owner of any interest in any land over which the road is located, at any time after the return of the location is made as above provided, may apply in like manner by petition to the department of transportation to appraise the damages occasioned to him by the railroad.
