  • Appraisal: A determination of property value.
  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
Persons authorized to construct and maintain a railroad as provided in N.H. Rev. Stat. § 372:2 shall give a copy of such location to each owner of land included in the location, if known and resident in the state, at least 14 days before application shall be made for an appraisal of the damages and, if such owner is unknown or does not reside in the state, by publishing such copy in some newspaper published in the county in which the land is situated.
