Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 402:55

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4

The term “transacting business,” as used in this subdivision, shall be defined to include in addition to its usual interpretation, advertising locally in any foreign jurisdiction in which an insurer is not licensed or circularizing in any such jurisdiction without regard for the source of such circularization whenever such advertising locally or such circularization is for the purpose of solicitation of insurance business. The word “jurisdiction” as used in this subdivision shall be defined to include any state of the United States, the District of Columbia or any province of the Dominion of Canada.
