  • Deposition: An oral statement made before an officer authorized by law to administer oaths. Such statements are often taken to examine potential witnesses, to obtain discovery, or to be used later in trial.
If a county attorney or the attorney general shall attend the caption of a deposition taken under the provisions of the preceding section he shall receive a reasonable compensation for his services and expenses from the treasury of the county in which the prosecution is pending, his account being first audited and allowed by the superior court in such county.
