Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 517:5

  • Deposition: An oral statement made before an officer authorized by law to administer oaths. Such statements are often taken to examine potential witnesses, to obtain discovery, or to be used later in trial.
  • state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
If the adverse party resides out of the state, or more than twenty miles from the place of caption, or from the party proposing to take the deposition, a like notice, given to the agent or attorney of such adverse party or left at his abode, shall be sufficient.
