Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 11A:5-10

  • Dismissal: The dropping of a case by the judge without further consideration or hearing. Source:
  • Veteran: means any honorably discharged soldier, sailor, marine or nurse who served in any army or navy of the allies of the United States in World War I, between July 14, 1914 and November 11, 1918, or who served in any army or navy of the allies of the United States in World War II, between September 1, 1939 and September 2, 1945 and who was inducted into that service through voluntary enlistment, and was a citizen of the United States at the time of the enlistment, and who did not renounce or lose his or her United States citizenship. 11A:5-10. Hearing on dismissal of veteran. Before any department head shall dismiss any veteran, as provided in N.J.S.11A:5-9, such department head shall show cause before the Civil Service Commission why such veteran should not be retained, at which time such veteran or veterans may be privileged to attend. The Civil Service Commission shall be the sole judge of the facts constituting such qualification.
