  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 5. The commissioner may refuse to authorize a person to act as a reinsurance intermediary if, in his judgment, the person, anyone named on the application, or any member, principal, officer or director of the applicant, is not trustworthy, or that any controlling person of the applicant is not trustworthy to act as a reinsurance intermediary, or that any of these persons have given cause for revocation or suspension of that authorization, or have failed to comply with any prerequisite for that authorization. Upon written request therefor, the commissioner shall furnish a summary of the basis for refusal of such authorization, which document shall be privileged and not subject to P.L.1963, c.73 (C. 47:1A-1 et seq.).
