Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 17:9A-297

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. The provisions of sections 290 to 296 shall not affect or preclude any other remedy for the enforcement of the claims or rights of the commissioner, or of a bank of whose property and business he is in possession, against the person in whose name any property or any space, safe, vault or safe deposit box stands, or affect or bar the right of the commissioner or the bank to recover, before auction or sale, any debt or claim due him or it, or, after sale, so much of the debt or claim as shall not be paid by the proceeds of the auction or sale.
