Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 1:1-3.1

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
Any definition contained in any statute shall be applicable to any amendment of, or supplement to, such statute.
