Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 2C:21-33
- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 1. a. A person is guilty of a crime of the fourth degree if that person knowingly engages in the business of electrical contracting without having a business permit issued by the Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors and:
(1) Creates or reinforces a false impression that the person is licensed as an electrical contractor or possesses a business permit; or
(2) Derives a benefit, the value of which is more than incidental; or
(3) In fact causes injury to another.
b. For the purposes of this section, the phrase “in fact” indicates strict liability.
