Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 2C:43-6.7

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State.   • Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
7. This act shall take effect on the 60th day following enactment and shall apply to any person who commits an offense subject to sentencing under section 1 of this act after the effective date of this act and to any person who is under probation or parole supervision, including community or parole supervision for life, on the effective date of this act.
