Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 45:1-19

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. If any person shall fail or refuse to file any statement or report or refuse access to premises from which a licensed profession or occupation is conducted in any lawfully conducted investigative matter or fail to obey a subpena issued pursuant to this act, the Attorney General may apply to the Superior Court and obtain an order:

a. Adjudging such person in contempt of court; or

b. Granting such other relief as may be required; or

c. Suspending the license of any such person unless and until compliance with the subpena or investigative demand is effected.
