Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 45:22-29

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
Except as otherwise provided in this article, a pawnbroker shall not be required, by legal process or otherwise, to deliver a pledge except upon surrender of the ticket, unless the ticket be impounded or its negotiation enjoined by a court of competent jurisdiction.
