Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 45:9A-22

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 22. This act shall not apply to any person while he is engaged in the practice of fitting hearing aids if his practice is part of the academic curriculum of an accredited institution of higher education or part of a program conducted by a public, charitable institution or nonprofit organization, which is primarily supported by voluntary contributions unless they sell hearing aids.

This act shall not be construed to prevent any person who is: a medical or osteopathic physician licensed to practice by the board from treating, or fitting hearing aids to, the human ear; or a licensed audiologist from dispensing and fitting hearing aids pursuant to section 1 of P.L.2019, c.41 (C. 45:3B-25).
