Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 147-18
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. The Governor of North Carolina is hereby empowered to set aside some day which shall be called “Indian Day” on which Indian lore shall receive emphasis in the public schools of the State and among the citizens of North Carolina. (Resolutions 54, 1937, p. 957.)
