Ohio Code 2151.82 – Services to be based on evaluation of strengths and weaknesses of child
A public children services agency or private child placing agency, that has temporary or permanent custody of, or is providing care in a planned permanent living arrangement to, a child who is fourteen years of age or older, shall provide independent living services to the child. The services to be provided shall be determined based on an evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of the child, completed or obtained by the agency. If housing is provided to a child who is sixteen or seventeen as part of the services, the child shall be placed in housing that is supervised or semi-supervised by an adult.
Terms Used In Ohio Code 2151.82
- Adult: means an individual who is eighteen years of age or older. See Ohio Code 2151.011
- Child: means a person who is under eighteen years of age, except that the juvenile court has jurisdiction over any person who is adjudicated an unruly child prior to attaining eighteen years of age until the person attains twenty-one years of age, and, for purposes of that jurisdiction related to that adjudication, a person who is so adjudicated an unruly child shall be deemed a "child" until the person attains twenty-one years of age. - Permanent custody: means a legal status that vests in a public children services agency or a private child placing agency, all parental rights, duties, and obligations, including the right to consent to adoption, and divests the natural parents or adoptive parents of all parental rights, privileges, and obligations, including all residual rights and obligations. See Ohio Code 2151.011
- Planned permanent living arrangement: means an order of a juvenile court pursuant to which both of the following apply:
(a) The court gives legal custody of a child to a public children services agency or a private child placing agency without the termination of parental rights. See Ohio Code 2151.011
- Private child placing agency: means any association, as defined in section 5103. See Ohio Code 2151.011
The services shall be included as part of the case plan established for the child pursuant to section 2151.412 of the Revised Code.
