A qualified organization shall develop and implement written policies and procedures for host family training. Training shall include all of the following topics:

Terms Used In Ohio Code 2151.909

  • Attachment: A procedure by which a person's property is seized to pay judgments levied by the court.
  • Child: means a person who is under eighteen years of age, except that the juvenile court has jurisdiction over any person who is adjudicated an unruly child prior to attaining eighteen years of age until the person attains twenty-one years of age, and, for purposes of that jurisdiction related to that adjudication, a person who is so adjudicated an unruly child shall be deemed a "child" until the person attains twenty-one years of age. See Ohio Code 2151.011
  • Organization: means any institution, public, semipublic, or private, and any private association, society, or agency located or operating in the state, incorporated or unincorporated, having among its functions the furnishing of protective services or care for children, or the placement of children in certified foster homes or elsewhere. See Ohio Code 2151.011

(A) The legal rights and responsibilities of host families;

(B) The qualified organization’s policies and procedures regarding host families;

(C) The effects that separation and attachment issues have on children and their families;

(D) The effects of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, and substance abuse on normal human growth and development, as well as information on reporting child abuse and neglect;

(E) Behavior management techniques;

(F) Cultural competence;

(G) Prevention, recognition, and management of communicable diseases;

(H) Community health and social services available to children and their families;

(I) Training on appropriate and positive behavioral intervention techniques;

(J) Education advocacy training;

(K) The host family’s responsibility to report abuse or neglect of a child under section 2151.9011 of the Revised Code.
