The presiding officer of each house of the Legislative Assembly shall appoint a credentials committee. The credentials committee shall review the finding of any report of the Secretary of State submitted under this section and ORS § 171.450 to 171.460, hear additional evidence if it so chooses, and make recommendations to the appropriate legislative body.   • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Presiding officer: A majority-party Senator who presides over the Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing Members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices and precedents.
