After request of the State Board of Forestry pursuant to ORS § 35.235 (1), the Attorney General shall commence and prosecute, in any court of competent jurisdiction in the name of the State of Oregon, the necessary or appropriate suit, action or proceeding for condemnation of the amount of or interest in the property required for such purposes, and for the assessment of the damages for the taking thereof.   • Board: means the State Board of Forestry. See Oregon Statutes 526.005
  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Prosecute: To charge someone with a crime. A prosecutor tries a criminal case on behalf of the government.
